If you’ve been tuning into my streams recently, (if you
haven’t you totally should by the way, twitch.tv/smashthenarrator) you’d know I’ve
been obsessed with Noita lately.  If you
haven’t heard of it, Noita is a pixelated 2D roguelike game with an absolutely
massive randomly generated world. A single run of Noita could last anywhere
from 2 minutes to 40 hours, depending on your skill and what you’re trying to
do. By that I mean, which ending you’re trying to receive. That’s right! Depending
on how you play and what you achieve in your run, your ending will change.
There’s even one ending that turns every pixel, except for you, into gold, it’s
crazy!

Noita’s biggest and most
important gameplay aspect is wand building. You can purchase spells or strip them off of wands, and then rearrange them on a wand of your choice and effectively craft your own custom spells and combinations, and there are hundreds to choose from! Be careful though, because sometimes your spells can hurt you, and you might end up killing yourself just by testing a new wand. Brutal.

So you might be thinking, if you can kill yourself just by testing a wand, how difficult is this game? Well, to put it into perspective for you, I’ve died 982 times. I’ve completed the game 3 times. That’s just me though and I’ve always been awful at roguelike games, ‘The Binding of Isaac’ taught me that much. I would definitely say that Noita is more difficult than Isaac however and if you’re looking for something to switch off and relax to, then Noita isn’t what you looking for. On the other hand, however, if you’re looking for your next big challenge to overcome, then Noita could be it!

If you’re the type of person who likes to collect every unlockable item, as well as discover everything there is to discover, then Noita has you set. With a whopping 106 perks to grab, 175 different enemies to kill and a mind-boggling 413 spells to cast, all of which are tracked in your progress log giving you a nice little serotonin boost when you check something off.

The last thing I want to tell you about is Noita’s vast pool of secrets, including easter eggs, lore hints, and cyphers. These are great and range from things like a monument to an incredible Noita player, to full quests that could take 30 hours! This game is full to the brim of all kinds of secrets to reward the explorer in you!

For all the new Noita players out there, check out my Twitch, linked above, for a handy guide on how to start your run with a very powerful wand as well as over 250k gold, that isn’t modded or exploited either. I’ll be posting some basic guides on Noita to Noble Group in the near future too, so keep an eye out for those.
