FC Barcelona v CA Osasuna: La Liga Preview, Gameweek 27, 2025

In scintillating form, Barcelona hosts Osasuna at the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys in a crucial La Liga clash. Hansi Flick’s men sit atop the table with 57 points, just ahead of Atlético Madrid (56) and Real Madrid (54), and remain unbeaten in 2025. Their dominant run includes six consecutive league wins, with an astonishing 71 goals scored in 26 matches and just two conceded in their last six outings.

In stark contrast, Osasuna has endured a drastic downturn after a promising start to the season. Having dropped from fourth to 11th place with only one win in their last 14 league fixtures, Vicente Moreno’s side has struggled to maintain momentum.

However, their shock 4-2 triumph over Barcelona earlier in the campaign provides hope as they seek an unprecedented league double over the Catalans.

Barcelona’s defensive solidity is highlighted by three consecutive clean sheets, reinforcing their dominance at the summit. Meanwhile, Osasuna’s dip in form has left them five points off the European spots, showcasing the league’s competitiveness.

Team News

  • Barcelona

After the demanding Champions League match against Benfica, Hansi Flick is expected to rotate his squad to keep freshness. In defence, Jules Koundé, Pau Cubarsí, Eric García and Gerard Martín will start, while Íñigo Martínez could be rested.

Marc Casado could start in midfield, while Frenkie de Jong should play a key role in setting the tempo demanded by Flick’s play. Gavi’s availability remains uncertain, and Pedri could be handled with caution given the fixture load over the coming months, although he has undoubtedly found his best form this season since becoming an FC Barcelona player. Dani Olmo, who was withdrawn early against Benfica, could return to the starting eleven, bringing creativity and attacking impetus. In attack, Lamine Yamal could start after being substituted in midweek. Ferran Torres could rotate to replace Robert Lewandowski or Raphinha, depending on Flick’s tactical approach. If Barcelona are looking for more control in midfield, Fermin Lopez could also be given a chance, offering versatility to link midfield and attack.

  • Osasuna

Osasuna continues to struggle with inconsistency and injuries, making the trip to the Catalan capital tricky. Ante Budimir, their all-time top scorer in La Liga (14G), remains their main attacking threat and will be vital if they are to trouble Barcelona’s well-drilled defence.

The Croatian striker will need the services of creative duo Bryan Zaragoza (5A) and Aimar Oroz (4G, 1A), who are expected to play a key role in Osasuna’s attacking transitions.

Adjustments may need to be made in midfield as Lucas Torró remains doubtful due to fitness problems. Jon Moncayola could come in alongside Moi Gómez to provide stability if he is unavailable.

Alejandro Catena will be in charge of the back four in defence, while Boyomo and Areso could also play a crucial role.  Vicente Moreno could also call on Kike Barja in search of more width as Osasuna look to exploit the spaces left by Barcelona’s aggressive style of play.

Likely Lineups

Barcelona

Szczesny ; Koundé, Cubarsí, García, Martín; Casado, De Jong, Olmo; Yamal, Lewandowski, Torres.

Osasuna

Herrera; Areso, Catena, Boyomo, Bretones; Moncayola, Torro, Oroz; Zaragoza, Budimir, Ruben Garcia.

Key Players

Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona)

The Polish striker remains Barcelona’s talisman in front of goal, leading their scoring charts and proving decisive in crucial moments. With Osasuna’s defensive frailties away from home—conceding in nearly every match—Lewandowski will be looking to add to his tally.

His ability to hold up play, link with Yamal and Torres, and convert chances will be vital for Barcelona’s attacking dominance.

Moreover, his experience in high-pressure situations makes him a key asset for Flick’s side. Against an Osasuna team struggling for confidence, his predatory instincts could be the difference-maker in securing another three points (21 G, 2 A).

Ante Budimir (Osasuna)

Budimir has been Osasuna’s standout performer this season, recently becoming the club’s all-time leading La Liga goalscorer.

With six goals and an assist in his last nine appearances, he remains their best hope of breaking down Barcelona’s rock-solid defence. His aerial prowess, intelligent movement, and ability to capitalize on defensive lapses make him a genuine threat.

Having already scored twice in Osasuna’s 4-2 win over Barcelona earlier this season, Budimir will be eager to replicate that performance and etch his name further into the club’s history.

If Osasuna are to get anything from this game, he will need to be at his very best.
