Rihanna receives her first Oscar nomination

Rihanna has received her very first Oscar nomination! She has been nominated in the “Best Original Song” category for her single “Lift Me Up” in the film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” at the 95th Academy Awards.

Rihanna made a powerful comeback last year with the release of her emotional single “Lift Me Up”. The stripped-down song, featuring only Rihanna’s vocals and a grand piano, was released before the debut of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and acts as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular character T’Challa in the film.

This song marked Rihanna’s first solo music output since 2016 and surprised the world with its release. It was used as the lead single for the film ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and it was a massive hit. The song reached number one in Belgium, Hungary, Switzerland, and South Africa, number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, top five in Australia, the United Kingdom, and France.

Rihanna has now been nominated for an Oscar for “Best Original Song” for “Lift Me Up” at the 95th Academy Awards, among other nominees in the category. The winner will be announced on March 12th, 2023.
