Crash Bandicoot

Who hasn’t heard of Crash Bandicoot? Even if you’ve never played the game, this iconic character has become a household name to many and has gained a place in the hearts of all gamers. The game finally received a 4th installment on the 2nd of October 2020, after keeping fans waiting for 22 years since the third installment releasing the 31st of October 1998. ‘Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time’ is the title of the 4th installment which is a pun referring to the massive gap of time between installments and also due to the game literally being about time travel!
Back to the case at hand, Crash Bandicoot is a platformer, where you go from level to level across the island, collecting ‘Wumpa Fruit’, gems, and crystals along the way, as well as defeating bosses at appropriate points within the game. The game features infuriating platforming sections that seemingly require the timing of a god. If you’ve ever felt rage after dying countless times in Crash Bandicoot, don’t look up a speedrun of the game, it will make you want to cry.
Of course, Crash Bandicoot has featured in plenty of spin-off titles, including Crash Team Racing, Crash Bandicoot’s own racing cart game which is hands down my favourite, Mario Kart has nothing on this! Besides racing, there’s also another spin-off series with Crash featuring as the protagonist, Crash of the Titans, but I feel this game took away slightly from the traditional platformer feel of the franchise, but that’s just my opinion.
